Robert A. deHoll
Shareholder
Robert A. deHoll is one of three shareholders on the firm's Management Committee and Chairman of the Construction Practice Group. The Group represents approximately 65 companies’ active in the construction industry. The Group's services include: contract preparation and reviews, claims analysis and preparation, surety bonds and claims, construction defect claims, architectural, engineering and design error claims, construction joint ventures, licensing, insurance, mechanic's liens, mold litigation, OSHA inspections and appeals, mediation, arbitration and litigation. Mr. deHoll also practices environmental law which includes environmental litigation, including cases brought under CERCLA and RCRA, and regulatory compliance matters.
Mr. deHoll had nearly 10 years of engineering and construction experience prior to attending law school. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy, Mr. deHoll served as an engineering officer in the U.S. Nuclear Power program and was stationed aboard nuclear powered submarines for 5 years. During his time in submarines, Mr. deHoll was actively involved in the scheduling and conduct of overhaul and repair work aboard the submarines and in shipyards. After concluding his service in submarines, Mr. deHoll worked as a nuclear-mechanical engineer for Bechtel Power Corporation in San Francisco where he was involved in the design and construction of commercial nuclear power plants as well as environmental permitting. After graduating from law school, Mr. deHoll was an associate for the Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison law firm in San Francisco where he concentrated in the construction and admiralty practices. Mr. deHoll served as house counsel for Fluor Daniel Corporation prior to joining Leatherwood Walker Todd & Mann in 1981. His years of experience in engineering and construction industry allows him to personally understand the needs, concerns and motivations of general contractors, engineers, architects, subcontractors, owners, and sureties.
