James T. Hewitt

James T. Hewitt (“Jay”) has experience in civil litigation and trials in South Carolina state and federal court, and federal courts throughout the United States, including multi-district litigation (MDL). His litigation and trial experience includes cases involving unfair trade practices, antitrust, products liability, medical malpractice, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), non-compete agreements, trade secrets, and franchisor-franchisee relations. He has served as national class counsel in cases involving automobile dealer-manufacturer relations and digital duplicators, and litigated cases involving public contracts and computer hardware and software application systems, cryogenic liquid production, cigarette lighter design, upholstered furniture flammability, dram shop liability, and mass-tort hotel fire litigation.

Mr. Hewitt is an Ironman triathlete and 3-time member of the U.S. National Team for Long Course Triathlon. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Hewitt served on the Washington staff of United States Senator Strom Thurmond.

Accolades

• While attending the South Carolina School of Law, Mr. Hewitt was inducted into the honor societies of the Order of Wig and Robe and the Order of the Coif. He also served on the student Editorial Board of the American Bar Association Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal. In 2001, Mr. Hewitt was named to Greenville Magazine's "Best and Brightest under 35".
